Poet, essayist, journalist and translator. National Prize of Literature in 2001. Full Member of the Cuban Academy of Language from 1999, and runs this institution from 2012. Member of the Cuban Academy of Sciences from 1991. Member of UNEAC. Member of the Jury of the Caribbean Carbet Prize since its foundation in 1990. Author, among others, of the books October essential (1982), Nation and miscegenation in Nicolás Guillén (1982), Granada notebook (1984), Foundation of the image (1988), Praise and landscape (1997), Poetics of the altars (2004), Wild coals (2005), Fast rope (2005), Poetic Anthology (1962-2000 and 2006), and The golden chair (2014). She has won the awards Mirta Aguirre (1983), UNEAC (1980), Rafael Alberti (2007) and three times the Literary Criticism (1986, 1997 and 2000). Part of her poetic work has been translated into more than ten languages, and has been included in Cuban and foreign anthologies.

Celebrating the author’s seventy years, this book collects fifty-two of the most representative poems of her work and presents them accompanied by an audiovisual of the poet, reading them, as well as a photo gallery. The volume is organized into nine albums that include themes such as the family, the paternal image, the city of Havana, Los Sitios neighborhood, the Cuban Revolution, the black woman and exile, among others.
