Cuban intellectual, professor and Senior Researcher at the University of Havana, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Merit Academician of the Cuban Academy of Sciences and professor at the Fernando Ortiz House of Advanced Studies. He is a specialist in issues related to slavery. He belongs to the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, to the Association of Historians of Latin America and the Caribbean and to the Cuba Section of LASA. He is part of the UNESCO Committee on the Slave Route. His titles include The Cuban Slave Market 1790-1880, in collaboration with Laird Bergad and Fe Iglesias, edited by the University of Cambridge; The Other Family: relatives, networks and descendants of slaves in Cuba (Fondo Editorial Casa de las Américas, 2009); The illustrious surnames: blacks in colonial Havana (Ediciones Boloña, 2009); From the nation´s Cabildo to the house of saint (Fuente Viva Collection. Fernando Ortiz Foundation, 2012); and Pedro Blanco: the slave driver Myth reality and spaces (Bologna Editions, Raíces Collection, 2018).
