Holguín, 1932

Genre: Poetry , Narrative , Essays

Pseudonym or literary name adopted by the poet, essayist, narrator and researcher Rogelio de Jesús López Gómez. He has worked in the Institute of Literature and Linguistics of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba, and in the National Direction of Literature of the Ministry of Culture. Owner of an extensive work between poetry and prose, some of his titles are: Because we have heroes (1979), Dexterous in solitudes and hope (mention in the Prize Julián del Casal 1966, of the UNEAC), Notes for a study about Manuel Navarro Luna (1982), The last of the weirdos (mention in the National Literary Critic Award Mirta Aguirre 1982), and among the most recent, Rogelio Alberto and the rainbow (2005).

With an intelligent language, beautified by a vastly settled culture and by the experience accumulated in life, his poetry goes in crescendo because in it are human feelings touched by a remarkable philosophical burden and time, as one of the axes that moves his concerns and observations. Nature acquires different nuances in his poems to show the great telluric force that is breathed in them. (Marianela Rabell López).
