Narrator, essayist, poet, screenwriter and journalist. She is considered one of the most important intellectuals of her generation. National Prize of Literature 2018. Author, among others, of the books: Havana is a very big city (short story, 1980/2001), Some place in ruins (poetry, 1997), Disordered and incomplete stories (short story, 1997), A single black forest (poetry, 2003), False documents (story, 2005), Cuban women to chapter. Second season (essay, 2012) and Bleed for the wound (novel, 2010/2013), the latter received the Cuban Academy of Language Award. She has obtained the Crítica Literaria prize five times. Her work has been translated into several languages. In 2004, within the framework of the MLA convention in Philadelphia, a session was held on her narrative: Gender inside Cuba: The Fiction of Mirta Yañez.

Having fun within the zone that delimits the fantastic and that is halfway between the real and the unreal, this book is full of fabulously deceitful stories; but supposedly serious, in a historiographical effort that comes to “rethink the history of literature, the rules of logic and ethics from Aristotle until today, and perhaps to overthrow all Western culture.”
